We Do Exciting Stuff
Living in Vancouver after you turn 18 can feel pretty… blah. Yes, pretty with them nature vibes, but honestly? BORING. The daily grind here is just work or study, maybe hit the gym, buy some random stuff, figure out food, maybe a walk, some doom scrolling on your phone, maybe grab drinks, then sleep, wake up tired and repeat.
Well it’s true, Vancouver is known as one of the most boring cities ever and even the government knows it. No wonder they made all the drugs legal here in Borecouver, it’s the their way of saying to us, “Well, sorry you’re so bored, here’s an escape route.”
Now think back to having that friend, let’s call her Zoey. You could be stuck somewhere totally dull – even the library – but with her, somehow it would become the most fun ever. You’d be cracking up over random book quotes, taking silly selfies on the computers with their crappy webcams, and turning the quiet aisles into your own secret hide-and-seek course. When you’re hanging with Zoey, you never knew, anything could happen!
That’s what Fireclub is all about. We’re the people who will take even the most “meh” spots in a boring city like Vancouver and flip them into unforgettable experiences! We’re here to bring that spark of fun and excitement, turning the ordinary into something you’ll actually look forward to being invited to!
Here’s to name a few of them:
Archery Tag
Ever find yourself getting so stuck on your phone that you think to yourself, “Wouldn’t it be nice to go back to when these things hadn’t taken over the world? Flip phones!”
Like before guns took over – there was this whole skill and art to using a bow and arrow…
Campfire
While the rest of Vancouver’s probably inside, scrolling their phones on one hand while they eat another one of those gloomy solo dinners with the other – you know, bland pasta and that watery canned tomato sauce that was warmed up on the stove…
But you? You’re out here with us, roasting sweet corn over the fire, while having a good laugh together about anything and everything under the clear starry sky!
Laser tag
Remember the last time someone said, “Oh wow, it’s getting late, I should probably head home” – Seriously? It’s not even 7:30! For the rest of us who know that nightfall is when the real adventures begin, it’s time to grab our laser guns and head to the forest for some all out galactic laser battles!
Gel Blaster Wars
It’s a beautiful sunny day outside. And that friend is probably hunched over their keyboard sweating over Valorant, backseat gaming their virtual “crew” on Discord while obsessively clutching their imaginary Radiant rank, maybe inhaling soggy instant ramen between rounds.
And you’d rather be out here in a real game.
Gel blaster in hand, taking cover behind physical obstacles, strategizing face-to-face, and experiencing the real energy of playing alongside actual people!
Night Hiking
Treadmill after work? Yawn. Flashlight and nighttime trails? Adventure awaits! Come explore with us after dark – it’s way more exciting than another boring workout on the hamster wheel.
And much more!
Vancouver Ain’t Boring anymore
Young Adults or just… Adults?
Remember those days of youth volleyball? Or ultimate frisbee, or the dance team. Maybe not even being the best, but the laughter of spiking the ball, chasing the frisbee with your friends, or getting the hang of a new dance routine. Then high school graduation hits, and suddenly, that easygoing vibe of playing a casual team activity just… vanishes.
One day you’re on the court having a blast with your friends, and the next? You’re faced with a choice – either join some intense “18+” adult league with a bunch of older people who are super competitive, or a casual sports group with a bunch of moms who are just trying to get some exercise, or some dads huffing and puffing. Either way, it’s just not the same when everyone else is twice your age!
Or maybe just move on with life like the rest of us, and focus on your studies, your job, or whatever “grown-up” stuff you’re supposed to be doing now. That colourful, no-pressure fun with people your own age has now turned black and white.
Ages 18-29
We believe that the joy of doing fun activities with people our own age shouldn’t just disappear after 18. We’re bringing back that vibrant, shared experience, where you can reconnect with the joy of doing activities with other young people who get it!
“Let’s get Food”
When was the last time someone asked you that for the umpteenth time and part of you was like “ugh, is there anything else you could think of? Maybe something a bit more… exciting? How about not sitting down?”
And besides “food”, the other social activities in this “exciting” city? Also snore-worthy. It’s the same scene: the crowded clubs, the noisy pubs, and those awkward “meetups” where the same old people (yes, literally OLD 👵) hit you with the same old questions over and over: “So, what do you do? Ok cool” “What do you study? ok cool” “How old are you? Cool cool” “Where are you from?” Seriously? YAWN.
But what if, instead of just “grabbing food”, you’re bringing your own yummy things to the campfire and roasting them right over the crackling flames?
And instead of being interviewed by some older folks at a bar, you’re diving right into the most random, out-there conversations around the fire? Talk that would probably cause your average 30+ year old to spontaneously combust from sheer bewilderment?
And instead of going through the whole “get dressed up” routine, “find parking” and “walk the sketchy downtown streets at night” just to go grab some watered down cocktails, you’re playing a ridiculously fun game of capture the flag, with us in the forest? Running around chaotically with your team, frantically searching for hidden glowsticks, laughing so hard you can barely breathe and run at the same time, all before the other team snags them!
And… drinks? HA! Who needs ’em to have a blast? Probably that one friend who’s only fun after a few or when they’re super baked (we all know at least one). When you’re hanging out doing awesome stuff with people who are already a great vibe just being themselves, no one needs that extra stuff to have an amazing time!
I mean, when we were little, did we need to drink to have a blast? Nope! Playing tag on the playground being totally silly – the kind of stuff we did was a vibe already. Remember water gun fights, those chaotic tag games on the field, capture the flag in the woods?
And then we turned 18 and finished high school. Those activities we enjoyed? All disappeared, replaced with having to be “serious”, always “scheduling plans” and being “busy” glued to our dumb “smartphones”.
When smartphones came out people thought that they’d give you cancer. Honestly… just look through your feed. See? They kind of weren’t wrong.
Why so serious anyway? Besides, playing a simple game like soccer and complicating it with a hundred fancy rules, is like trying to eat pizza with a knife and fork while chewing with your mouth closed and being all quiet about it…
We’re all about keeping things that should be chill and casual, well, chill and casual!
And when things are kept casual, who needs those awkward icebreakers anyway? Around the campfire we don’t care about your job title, what high school you went to, or any of that other forced “introduce yourself to the class” type of “icebreaker” stuff. Save those questions for a job interview. Let’s have fun together instead!
And who even decided fun had to have an expiration date of 18 years, like it was that dented can of tomato sauce wayyy at the back of gramma’s cupboard?
No wonder you heard them say “getting old sucks” – we just stopped doing all the fun stuff that puts colour into our lives!
We’re bringing that playful, anything-goes energy back, and it’s amazing being with other people who are just as ready to dive in and have a good time, no matter how “grown up” we’re supposed to be! Besides, being young at heart isn’t hard while we’re still young adults!
So what are you waiting for?
Grab a water balloon and throw it at someone already!
